Lions Fall to Catawba in Season-Opener

MARS HILL, N.C.-- Mars Hill's women's swim team was defeated by Catawba 179-78 in a dual-meet Saturday afternoon at Harrell Pool.
The Lions earned second-place finishes in the 200 Medley Relay and 200 Free Relay. Nicole Day added three second-place finishes for MHU, while Elle Grier placed second in two events. Mars Hill is 0-1 in dual meets this season. Catawba is 1-0 in dual meets.
Day, Lauren Davis, Rachel Louviaux and Maggie Mills swam a time of 1:55.85 to finish less than a second behind Catawba's victorious 200 Medley Relay team. Mills swam a 24.90 split to close.
Grier, Hannah Hill Emma Duffy and Erin Cregan swam a time of 1:54.03 in the 200 Free Relay. Grier swam the best split at 28.02.
Day placed second in the 200 Free, 100 Back and 100 Fly. Grier placed second in both the 1000 Free and 500 Free.
Mills added a second-place finish in the 50 Free, while Louviaux placed second in the 50 Fly.
Mars Hill will swim a tri-meet against Warren Wilson and Lenoir-Rhyne on Oct. 11 in Hickory, N.C.
