Harty Named Appalachian Swimming Conference Women's Swimmer of the Week
Freshman Abby Harty has been named the Appalachian Swimming Conference Women’s Swimmer of the Week.
SOUTH EUCLID, OHIO- Freshman Abby Harty has been named the Appalachian Swimming Conference Women's Swimmer of the Week, conference officials announced this week.
In her first collegiate meet, the Johns Creek, Ga. native broke a school record in the 500 Freestyle with a time of 5:22.27, and swam to times of 2:00.26 in the 200 Freestyle and 56.56 in the 100 Freestyle. Harty's 500 Freestyle time is the 20th fastest time among NCAA Division II swimmers this season. In her relay swims, Harty split 32.57 on the Breaststroke leg of the 200 Medley and 1:10.63 on the Breaststroke leg of the 400 Medley. In this young season, Harty ranks in the following events in the Appalachian Swimming Conference: 50 Freestyle (7th), 100 Freestyle (5th), 200 Freestyle (1st), and 500 Freestyle (2nd).
Harty and the women's swimming team will make their home debut next Saturday against Lenoir-Rhyne at 11 a.m.
