Three Lions Earn Appalachian Swimming Conference Honors
Junior Elle Grier and freshman Abby Harty were named to the Appalachian Swimming Conference All-Conference team. Senior Emma Duffy earns honorable mention accolades.
SOUTH EUCLID, OHIO – Junior Elle Grier and freshman Abby Harty were named to the Appalachian Swimming Conference All-Conference team while senior Emma Duffy claimed honorable mention distinction, league officials announced earlier this week. Grier earns a spot on the All-Conference team for the second straight season.
Grier set a new school record in the 1650 Freestyle at the Appalachian Swimming Conference championship meet with a time of 17:59.95. She finished in eighth place in the 500 Freestyle (5:18.56) and was a member of the fourth place 800 Freestyle Relay team. Grier also swam legs of the 200 and 400 Freestyle Relay teams and 200 Medley Relay teams that finished in sixth place.
Harty had a freshman campaign to remember, finishing in second place in the 100 Breaststroke (1:08.86) and 200 Breaststroke (2:27.25) and fourth in the 500 Freestyle at the conference meet. She also swam on each relay team. Harty completes her first season at Mars Hill with school records in the 100 Breaststroke (1:06.75), 200 Breaststroke (2:23.95), 200 IM (2:08.97) and 400 IM (4:46.87). During the 2014-15 season, Harty was named the Appalachian Swimming Conference Women's Swimmer of the Week five times.
