Women's Swimming Announces 2015 Recruiting Class
Head Coach Teddy Guyer has signed six female swimmers for the 2015-16 season
Mars Hill women's swimming head coach Teddy Guyer has announced the addition of six student-athletes to the 2015-16 Mars Hill team.
Rachel Nichols is from Clarkesville, Georgia where she attended Tallulah Falls High School and swam for Coach John Fede. Rachel swam for the Habersham Rapids Swimming Team under the direction of Coach Anthony Rabern for 12 years. Rachel was a 4-year, 5 event (200 IM, 100 Fly, 100 Free, 100 Back, 50 Free) Georgia High School Association Swimming State Championships Qualifier and also a top- 12 finisher in the 100 Fly at the 2015 1A-5A GHSA State Championships. Rachel is the daughter of John and Susan Nichols.
Kathryn Gray Boland is from Charlotte, North Carolina where she attended East Mecklenburg High School and was coached by Eric Oates. Kathryn swam with her year round team, (ATOM) the Aquatic Team of Mecklenburg, for 9 years where she was coached by Shaynah Jerrell and Frankie Bell. She was the 2015 Southwestern 4A Conference High School Female Swimmer of the Year and placed 2nd in the 200 IM in the conference. This year at the NC Swimming Senior State Championships in February, Kathryn placed 4th in the 200 IM and 5th in the 400 IM. She has also qualified to swim in NCSA Junior Nationals meet in Orlando in March 2015 as well as the NC-SC Carolina Crown Challenge Meet in Greenville, SC in April 2015. Kathryn is the daughter of Mark and Jane Boland.
Jamaris J. Washshah (also known as JJ) is from Kingshill, Virgin Islands where she attended Good Hope Country Day School (GHCDS) and was coached under the direction of Brian Brady. Jamaris is a member of the St. Croix Dolphins Swim Team and is a member of the national team that is coached by John Vasbinder. She has the opportunity to represent the Virgin Islands in many international meets including Worlds SC Championship in Qatar and in July, Jamaris plans to travel to Canada for the 2015 Pan American Games. Jamaris is the daughter of Sammuel Sanes and Cinthia Torres- Sanes.
Shelby Parrott is from Charlotte, North Carolina where she attended East Mecklenburg High School and was coached by Eric Oates. Shelby also swam for the Aquatic Team of Mecklenburg (ATOM) under the direction of Coach Shaynah Jerrell. Shelby was a NC high school regional and state meet qualifier throughout her high school career. Shelby is the daughter of Tommy and Sandy Parrott.
Marissa Hall is from Fort Pierce, Florida where she attended Fort Pierce Central High School. Marissa's high school coaches were Tammy Serrano and Brandy Crawford. She also swam for Indian River Aquatics under the direction of Coach Adam Epstein. Marissa qualified for FHSAA regional's and was her high school team captain during her senior year. Marissa graduated high school with an Associate of Arts Degree in Business Administration from Indian River State College and ranked 8th in her graduating class at Fort Pierce Central. Marissa is the daughter of Charles and Karyl Hall.
Brin Sampson attended A.C. Reynolds High School where she was coached by Eric Vess for four years; she also swam for Tiffany Golding McLean with the MHAC swim team. Brin has participated in the North Carolina Western Regional and State meets throughout high school. During her high school career she was part of two record breaking relays. Brin is the daughter of Paige and Mike Sampson.
