Women's Swimming Defeats Warren Wilson
Mars Hill won the opening meet of the 2015-16 season
MARS HILL, N.C.- The Mars Hill women's swimming team opened the 2015-16 season with a 110-26 victory over Warren Wilson in Harrell Pool on Friday evening.
JJ Washshah and Abby Harty each won three events for the Lions. Washshah claimed the 50 freestyle in 26.44 seconds, the 100 freestyle in 56.45 seconds and the 50 yard backstroke in 28.97 seconds. Harty was the winner in the 500 freestyle (5:32.33), 50 yard breaststroke (33.07) and 100 yard breaststroke (1:12.37).
Rachel Nichols won the 50 yard butterfly in 27.90 and the 100 yard butterfly in 1:00.74. Shelby Parrott scored a second place finish in both events.
Elle Grier was the winner in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1:06.78. Grier was the runner-up in the 500 yard freestyle in 5:38.92 and the 50 yard backstroke (31.36).
Brin Sampson was the winner in the 200 yard freestyle in 2:16.40, followed by Marissa Hall with a time of 2:28.79.
Mars Hill returns to action at Lenoir-Rhyne on October 9.
