Mars Hill places second at Milligan & Warren Wilson Invite
Both Mars Hill men's and women's swimming teams placed second overall in the four team meet Saturday afternoon. Mars Hill finished ahead of Milligan College and Warren Wilson College.
MILLIGAN, Tenn. - Both Mars Hill men's and women's swimming teams placed second overall in the four team meet Saturday afternoon. Mars Hill finished ahead of Milligan College and Warren Wilson College.
WOMEN'S
The Lions placed behind the no. five team in the nation in DII, Carson-Newman, trailing them by a score of 531-440. Kathryn Boland came in first in the 200 meter IM and 100 meter breaststroke as well as finishing 2nd in the 100 meter butterfly with times of 2:27.95, 1:18.42 and 1:07.10, respectively.
Abby Harty placed first in the 400 meter freestyle in 4:46.94 and Haley Horton took the 100 meter backstroke top spot, clocking a time of 1:08.72.
Mars Hill took fourth in both team competitions, the 200 meter medley and freestyle relays.
MEN'S
Erwin Ortiz was the only winner on the men's side, claiming victory in the 200 meter freestyle in 1:55.20. He also had a second place finish in the 100 meter freestyle and 400 meter freestyle.
Angel Regalado had two second place finishes in the 100 meter butterfly and 800 meter freestyle.
Brendon Cyprianos also had a second place finish in the 100 meter backstroke, along with Vitor Goncalves in the 50 meter freestyle.
Carson-Newman came away with the overall team victory, 493-436. The Eagles are ranked 15th in the nation in DII.
