Lions open up Fall Frenzy in Charlotte
The Mars Hill men's and women's swimming teams traveled to the Queen City to open up the 2017 Fall Frenzy Invitational. Angel Regalado and members of the women's 400 yard medley relay team set new school records.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Mars Hill men's and women's swimming teams traveled to the Queen City to open up the 2017 Fall Frenzy Invitational. Angel Regalado and members of the women's 400 yard medley relay team set new school records.
Regalado, racing in the 500 yard freestyle, swam a final time of 4:30.79. The time was nearly five seconds better than his prelim time earlier in the day and was enough to make the NCAA cut line.
Teammate Erwin Ortiz finished fifth overall with a time of 4:40.33.
The women's 400 yard medley relay team finished eighth overall. The time of 4:02.90 was a new Mars Hill record. The quartet consisted of Haley Horton, Kathryn Boland, Rachel Nichols and Abby Harty.
In the same event on the men's side, the Lions placed sixth with the group of Regalado, Ortiz, Elijah Sears and Brendan Cyprianos.
At the end of day one, the Lions sit fifth overall with a combined team score of 454 points. The women's team sits at sixth place, while the men are slotted in fifth.

Saturday marks the second day of competition and the Fall Frenzy will wrap up on Sunday, November 19.
