Records set as Lions place fourth at Montreat College Invitational
Multiple school and personal records were set on day two of the Montreat College Invitational by the Mars Hill women's track and field team as they placed fourth overall Saturday evening.
MONTREAT, N.C. - Multiple school and personal records were set on day two of the Montreat College Invitational by the Mars Hill women's track and field team as they placed fourth overall Saturday evening.
Mars Hill earned 58 points between the two days including 54 on Saturday.
Kylee Peck claimed victory in the high jump with a mark of 1.67 meters. Earning 10 points for Mars Hill, Peck recorded a school record and currently ranks 11th in the nation with the mark. Her jump qualified her for Nationals.
In the triple jump, Shaniqua Stevens earned the win with a mark of 11.42 meters to pick up another 10 points for Mars Hill. Stevens' distance set a new Mars Hill record.
Tiffany Holloway set a Mars Hill school record in the javelin throw with a distance of 36.30 meters. The distance was good for first place overall and 10 points for Mars Hill. Placing third in the shot put, Holloway earned six points for Mars Hill with her personal best distance of 12.82 meters. She also picked up four more points in the discus throw, placing fifth with a distance of 38.35 meters.
In the 5000 meter run, Nyla Feeney's time of 19:50.38 was good for fourth place, earning the Lions' five points. Arriel Smith picked up four points for Mars Hill, placing sixth in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:01.05.
Lavaisiette Keller earned two points for Mars Hill in the 100 meter hurdles, turning in a time of 16.93. Keller also picked up three points in the long jump with a distance of 5.02 meters.
