Lions open series at LMU with split
The Mars Hill baseball team (3-4, 3-3 SAC) split with Lincoln Memorial (4-5, 3-3 SAC) Sunday afternoon to open their series, winning game one, 6-5, but falling in game two, 10-6.

HARROGATE, Tenn. - The Mars Hill baseball team (3-4, 3-3 SAC) split with Lincoln Memorial (4-5, 3-3 SAC) Sunday afternoon to open their series, winning game one, 6-5, but falling in game two, 10-6.
GAME ONE: MHU 6, LMU 5
The Lions used a five-run third inning to propel them to victory in Sunday's opening game.
Entering the third with a 1-0 advantage off of a solo home run from Scottie Lee in the second, both Tyler Lala and Trevor Bailey added two-run doubles to extend the Lions lead to five. Austin Treadway capped the inning off with a RBI single that plated Bailey.
Lincoln Memorial scored five unanswered over the next two innings, kicked off by Tyler Adams RBI double to right field. Later in the third, Andrew Keene and Ryan Kurth each posted RBI singles to cut the Lions' lead in half.
In the fourth, Zach Fritts recorded the Railsplitters' fourth run of the game by stealing home. Dalton Dedas' RBI groundout in the bottom of the fifth pulled Lincoln Memorial within one, but strong relief efforts from Luke Kimrey and Carlton Jackson preserved the Lions' lead over the last two innings.
Jackson was credited with his first save of the year, allowing no hits in seventh and striking out two.
Lala and Bailey led all players with two RBI apiece. AJ Chacon earned his second win of the season, going five strong, allowing three runs on seven hits and striking out five.
GAME TWO: LMU 10, MHU 6
Lincoln Memorial responded in game two with a consistent offensive output, downing the Lions 10-6 to earn the split Sunday afternoon.
Ruben Trillo put the Lions up 1-0 entering the bottom of the first. Brandon Parrott knotted the game at one with a RBI triple. He later scored off of a Lions' wild pitch to take the 2-1 lead entering the second.
Capitalizing on two more Lions' errors in the second, the Railsplitters carried a 5-1 lead into the fourth. Brent Richey singled to left, plating Zuriel Collins and later in the frame, Parrott drove home Richey with a sacrifice fly.
The Lions mounted a comeback bid in the fifth as Kameron Reynolds RBI double was the catalyst for a five-run fifth inning. After a Jordan Lathe RBI single, Trillo drove home his fourth run of the day with a bases clearing double to left field, pulling the Lions within one, 7-6, entering the bottom half of the frame.
Dalton Dedas added two insurance runs with a two-run home run to left and in the sixth, Tyler Adams' rebuilt the four-run lead with a solo shot to left.
Trillo went 3-for-3 from the plate with a game-high four RBI. Lathe added three hits while Reynolds posted two. Parrott led the Railsplitters with three RBI while Ryan Kurth recorded a team-high three hits.
Evan Porter picked up the win, striking out four in six innings of work. Cameron Howell suffered the loss, allowing four runs on three hits in three innings pitched.
The Lions wrap up the series with a doubleheader on Monday, March 1. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
