Seniors lead Mars Hill to win over Milligan
The Mars Hill men's swim team downed Milligan on Senior Day by a score of 176-61 Saturday afternoon.
MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill men's swim team downed Milligan on Senior Day by a score of 176-61 Saturday afternoon.
Seniors Vitor Goncalves, Harrison Butler, Michael Piumelli and Elijah Sears were instrumental in the Lions' victory.
Goncalves earned an individual win in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 22.18. Butler won the 50 yard backstroke with a time of 24.88 while Piumelli won the 100 yard breaststroke race with a time of 1:02.93. Sears earned two individual wins in the 50 yard butterfly and breaststroke. He swam times of 24.64 and 27.39, respectively.
The four comprised the winning 200 yard medley relay team that won with a time of 1:38.73. Butler, Goncalves and Piumelli were joined by Jake Moore in the 200 yard freestyle relay that saw them claim victory with a time of 1:29.89.
Brendon Cyprianos and Erwin Ortiz each won three individual events on the day. Cyprianos won the 100 yard butterfly, IM and backstroke races while Ortiz took home the wins in the 100, 200 and 500 yard freestyle races.
Mars Hill improves to 5-1 on the season.

Mars Hill returns to the pool on Friday, January 11th when they take on King. The meet is scheduled for a 6 p.m. start.
