Mars Hill places fourth at Pfeiffer Invitational
The Mars Hill women's golf team finished in fourth place at the Pfeiffer Spring Invitational Tuesday afternoon.
HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. - The Mars Hill women's golf team finished in fourth place at the Pfeiffer Spring Invitational Tuesday afternoon. They entered the day in seventh place.
Janie Gooch shot a +3 in the second round and finished in fourth overall.
Emilee Wenmoth, Jasmine Chesnut and Marie Syvertsen all advanced up the leaderboard on Tuesday, with Syvertsen having the biggest turnaround from Monday. With Wenmoth and Chesnut trimming two strokes off of their round one performances, Syvertsen shot a second round 82, nine strokes better than round one. Wenmoth, starting the day in 34th, placed 27th overall. Chesnut moved up five spots for a 30th place finish and Syvertsen advanced 10 spots for a 32nd place finish.
The Lions soared up the leaderboard with an 11-stroke improvement from Monday's total to climb inside the top five. Randolph-Macon, Bridgewater and Stevenson each slid in round two.

Mars Hill takes part in the Coker Spring Invitational on Monday, March 12 at the Hartsville Country Club.
