Holleran stops career-high 24 on Senior Day

MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill women's lacrosse team (1-5, 0-4 SAC) was defeated by Queens (5-1, 3-0 SAC) by a score of 20-4 Saturday afternoon inside the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium.
Alexa Tazzetta opened the scoring just 1:04 into the contest, but the Royals answerd with 11 straight goals. Ally Blood recorded a hat-trick in the first half while also picking up three assists. Kara Blanchard, Shannon Donovan, and Shannon Kingston each added two goals apiece.
Sydney Joyce scored the second goal of the half for the Lions, her 15th of the season. Alexandria Holleran made an incredible 17 saves in the opening 30 minutes of play.
The second half saw the Royals outscore the Lions 8-2 with Blanchard and Sydney Bracken each recording two tallies apiece. Joyce and Maria Fabrizio netted the Lions' markers. Holleran made another seven saves in the half, establishing a new career-high.
Blood led all players with eight points (3g, 5a) followed by Rachel Perrett's five (1g, 4a). Perrett also picked up a game-high eight draw controls. Joyce (2g) and Tazzetta (1g, 1a) led the Lions with two points apiece.
Prior to the contest, Mars Hill recognized seniors Taylor Burgess, Madeline Boles, Kiersten Foust, Alexandria Holleran, Carly Koblitz, and Rebecca Dallman for their pioneering ways and contributions to the program.
Mars Hill returns to action on Saturday, March 20 when they face Wingate on the road. First draw is set for 1 p.m.
