Women's Soccer Falls to Lees-McRae in Overtime
MARS HILL, N.C. – Meagan Thornton scored the match winner at the 102:09 mark in the second overtime period to lift Lees-McRae to a 1-0 victory over Mars Hill in women’s soccer action.

MARS HILL, N.C. – Meagan Thornton scored the match winner at the 102:09 mark in the second overtime period to lift Lees-McRae to a 1-0 victory over Mars Hill in women's soccer action Monday night in the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium. The Lions fell to 2-8-2 on the season while the Bobcats improved to 7-6 overall.
Thornton's match winner was a through ball passed by Sarah Mahar. LMC outshot the Lions 17-14. The Bobcats edged MHU in corner kicks 6-2 and the Bobcats were called offsides twice. Maslyn Greene played all 102:09 in goal for MHU and made six saves. Kaitlyn Briggs also played the entire match in the net for the Bobcats and made eight saves.
Mars Hill will play at SAC rival Queens University on October 19. Match time is set for 2 p.m.
