Boland leads Lions on Senior Day over Milligan, UNC Pembroke
The Mars Hill women's swim team earned two wins on Senior Day over Milligan and UNC Pembroke Saturday afternoon.
MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill women's swim team earned two wins on Senior Day over Milligan and UNC Pembroke Saturday afternoon.
Senior Kathryn Boland won three individual events and was a member of the winning 200 yard medley relay team. Boland claimed victories in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 59.93, the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:10.75 and the 100 yard IM with a time of 1:03.32. The team of Boland, Haley Horton, Brianna Broussard and Savannah Maddox turned in a time of 1:55.07 in the 200 yard medley relay.
Horton won the 100 yard backstroke in 1:01.07 and was a member of the winning 200 yard freestyle team with Maddox, Ashley Hicks and Elena Massa-Teijeiro with a time of 1:46.25.
Massa-Teijeiro claimed individual wins in the 50 and 200 yard freestyle races with times of 26.13 and 2:03.52, respectively.
Lorna Doorman picked up the win in the 100 yard freestyle and Sarah Shapiro earned the win in the 50 yard breaststroke.
The Lions defeated UNC Pembroke by a score of 190-49 and took down Milligan by a score of 168-73. Mars Hill improves to 9-0 on the year.

Mars Hill returns to the pool on Friday, January 11th when they take on King. The meet is scheduled for a 6 p.m. start.
