Mars Hill defeats Lenoir-Rhyne and UNC Pembroke in first dual meet of the season
The Mars Hill women's swim team defeated both Lenoir-Rhyne and UNC Pembroke Friday afternoon in their first dual meet of the season.
HICKORY, N.C. - The Mars Hill women's swim team defeated both Lenoir-Rhyne and UNC Pembroke Friday afternoon in their first dual meet of the season.
The Lions downed the Braves by a score of 162-92 and the Bears by a score of 148-103.
Lorna Doorman placed first overall in the 1,000 yard freestyle, recording a time of 11:18.55, a full 20 seconds better than the second place finisher. Doorman also won the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:34.20, narrowly edging out teammate Brianna Broussard.
In the 200 yard freestyle, Elena Massa placed first with a time of 2:01.50 and earned another first place finish in the 100 yard freestyle.
Broussard finished first in the 100 and 200 yard butterfly races while Haley Horton sat atop the 100 yard backstroke standings with a time of 1:01.28.
