Women's Tennis Defeats Converse
The Mars Hill tennis team won four singles matches en route to a 6-3 victory over Converse
SPARTANBURG, S.C.- The Mars Hill tennis team won four singles matches en route to a 6-3 victory over Converse on Sunday afternoon in a non-conference match. The Lions improve to 3-2 overall.
Jasha Geerdink won the top singles match 6-2, 6-3 over Alex Schlesener, with Lucy McLaurin claiming a 7-5, 6-4 victory over Kaitlin Knight on the second singles court. Juliana Fisher won a hard-fought match at the third singles flight, dropping the first set 6-7 (4-7) to Margaret Pridmore before coming back with 6-3 and 6-2 victories. Jade Henke was a winner on the fourth court, knocking off Samantha Sheffield 7-6 (7-5), 7-5.
Converse won the top doubles match but the Lions held a 2-1 lead entering singles play thanks to an 8-4 victory by the duo of Henke and Fisher on the second court and an 8-6 win for Grace Diepenbrock and Natalie Hilbig.
Mars Hill opens conference play on Saturday at Newberry.
