Lions open season at Montreat Indoor Kickoff
The Mars Hill women's indoor track and field team began their 2019-20 season at the Montreat Indoor Kickoff Thursday.
BLACK MOUNTAIN, N.C. - The Mars Hill women's indoor track and field team began their 2019-20 season at the Montreat Indoor Kickoff Thursday.
The Lions claimed victory in the 3,000 meter race as Megan Van Etten led the pack with a time of 13:04.06. Sydney Britt placed second, Kylee Peck third, and Dakota Shiflett finished fourth. Peck topped all other competitors in the high jump, setting a Mars Hill indoor record with a mark of 1.62 meters.
Maria Yarussi finished seventh in the 200 meter, turning in a time of 29.39. In the 600 meter, Britt placed third overall with a time of 1:52.50 while Peck finished fifth with a time of 1:56.16. In the 1,000 meter, Alyssa Jamerson placed fifth, recording a time of 4:08.37.
In the shot put, Emily Kraft finished second overall with a mark of 8.42 meters while Ariahn Glass placed third, DeAnna Clark fourth, and Emma Medlin fifth. Medlin picked up a second place finish in the weight throw, recording a distance of 6.64 meters.
