LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Mars Hill women's cross country team continued their 2023 campaign at the Live in Lou Classic at E.P Tom Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Kentucky with a 5k race.
The Live in Lou Classic is historically considered the largest collegiate cross country race on the East Coast, with the 2023 edition of this race featuring over 140 teams from all collegiate divisions. The Mars Hill women's cross country team finished 45th place in the Silver Division race.
Continuing her strong season, Hannah Frazer led the Lions with a 110th place finish in a time of 20:56.0. The second female Lion to cross the finish line was Emma Bridges with a new personal best time of 22:24.2. Megan Van Etten was the third Lion scorer with a season best time of 23:10.05. Rounding out team scoring for the Lions was Anahi Rita who ran a season best time of 23:35.8 and Brenna Hicks who ran a new personal best time of 24:42.5.
Thoughts from Coach Benge:
"The ladies all ran very bravely and took a risk today by running their fastest first mile of the season so far in a very large race of over 300 people. This didn't result in the strongest finishes for some of the ladies, but it did pay off with two season best times and two new personal record times. This learning experience in such a large cross country race will hopefully translate to greater confidence in the upcoming championship races."
