LOUDON, TENN. – Senior Nick Caruso fired an opening round 79 (+7) to pace the men's golf team during the first round of the Tennessee River Rumble. The Lions were able to post a team total of 327 (+39) in blustery conditions at the Tennessee National Golf Club to sit in a tie for ninth after day one.
Carson-Newman leads the team standings after the first round with a combined score of 300 (+12) while Brevard is in a close second with a 302 (+14). The Tornado's Oskar Lundgren and Wingate's Philip Coles shot opening-day 71s to sit atop the leaderboard at one-under par.
Chevy Hartzog finished his round with a +8, 80, while Alejandro Canizares sits in 44th place with his +11 83. Adam Lumley and Ken Dixon rounded out the performers for the Blue and Gold with scores of 85 (+13) and 93 (+21), respectively.
