NEWBERRY, S.C. - The Mars Hill men's lacrosse team (4-8, 1-5 SAC) was defeated by Newberry (9-3, 4-3 SAC) by a score of 16-3 Saturday evening.
Newberry used a 6-0 first to propel themselves to the win. Scott Reed scored twice.
Brandon Woodward and Josh McCallion scored in the second with Austin Stroud assisting on McCallion's tally with 39 seconds remaining in the half.
Cole Ross netted the final Mars Hill goal in the third quarter with just one second left in the frame. Colin Lantz was credited with the assist.
Woodward, McCallion, Ross (1g), Stroud and Lantz (1a) each recorded one point for the Lions.
Steven Smith made 15 saves in the game.
Mars Hill returns to action on Wednesday, April 10 when they host Lincoln Memorial at 6 p.m. inside Meares Stadium.
