Lions defeat Bears in home opening meet
The Mars Hill men's swim team defeated Lenoir-Rhyne by a score of 171-90 Friday night in their 2023-24 home opening meet.
MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill men's swim team defeated Lenoir-Rhyne by a score of 171-90 Friday night in their 2023-24 home opening meet.
Opening the team scoring, the quartet of Evangelos Daniil, Matthew Goslin, Joash McKonie, and Thomas Gibson took the 200 yard medley relay in a time of 1:34.80.
Daniil claimed first in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:45.76 and the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 21.61. McKonie won the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 53.90 and the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 50.58.
Goslin took the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 59.25 and the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:12.62. Gibson claimed victory in the 100 yard freestyle, swimming a time of 45.57.
Andres Bodington, in the 200 yard butterfly, took first with a time of 1:59.11 and also took first in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 4:47.49. Juan Jose Moncada won the 200 yard backstroke with a time of 1:56.91 and the 200 yard IM with a time of 1:56.61.
Mars Hill closed out the night with another relay win. The group of Gibson, Daniil, Bodington, and McKonie took the 400 yard freestyle relay in a time of 3:09.47.
