Women's Swimming Defeats St. Andrews

LAURINBURG, N.C. – The Mars Hill women's swimming team defeated St. Andrews University on Saturday, January 09. The Lions were able to prevail by a final score of 111-99. MHU was able to capture eight event wins on the afternoon.
Abby Harty was able to turn in a terrific performance as she tallied three wins in individual events. Harty took the 200 Freestyle with a time of 2:04.31, the 500 Freestyle with a total time of 5:36.03, and the 200 Individual Medley with a first-place time of 2:16.89.
Elle Grier was able to register wins in the 1000 Freestyle (11:53.17) as well as the 200 Backstroke (2:20.53). Kathryn Boland found herself atop the standings in the 100 and 200 Breaststroke with times of 1:10.86 and 2:32.42, respectively, while teammate Rachel Nichols edged the field in the 100 Freesyle (57.45).
The Lions will return to action on Saturday, January 23 as they take on West Virginia Tech and Milligan.
