Baseball Loses to North Greenville
The Lions baseball team lost to North Greenville, 4-0, Tuesday afternoon at Henderson Field.
MARS HILL, N.C. – The Lions baseball team lost to North Greenville, 4-0, Tuesday afternoon at Henderson Field. Mars Hill evened their season record to 8-8 while the Crusaders improved to 11-4 on the year.
Hunter Merrill led the Lions at the plate going 2-3. Travis Owens followed going 1-3. Blaine Farrell suffered the loss (1-2) pitching eight innings scattering four hits and allowing two earned runs. He struck out seven batters.
Andrew Frazier led NGU going 1-4 with a homerun and two RBI. Zack Kamerman obtained the win (3-1) throwing seven innings and striking out the same number of batters. Trent Spikes picked up his first save on the year allowing no hits in two innings of work.
NGU scored two runs in the third inning. Eric Gilbert hit a sacrifice fly to drive in Brandon Odachowski and then Clark Scolamiero scored Daniel Myers on a fielder's choice. Frazier ended the scoring in the game hitting a two-run homerun in the fourth frame.
Mars Hill will host Tusculum in a three-game South Atlantic Conference series this weekend. The teams will meet for a single game at 2 p.m. on Friday and then play a double-header on Saturday beginning at 12 p.m.
