Dawkins sets career-high in Lions' win over Catawba

SALISBURY, N.C. - The Mars Hill men's basketball team (3-3, 3-1 SAC) defeated Catawba (1-5, 0-4 SAC) by a score of 89-75 Saturday afternoon.
Kadyn Dawkins led all players by establishing a career-high of 29 points scored. He netted 14 in the first half, going 5-of-6 from the floor in the first 20 minutes.
The Lions' defense held Catawba to a poor shooting first half as the Indians shot 18 percent from the floor, highlighted by missing all 10 three-point opportunities. At the end of the half, the Lions held an 11-point lead.
The second half saw the teams combine for 111 points with the Lions scoring 57 in the final 20 minutes. Dawkins led the Lions with 15 while both Trey Belin and Isayah Johnson each added 11 points. Michael Houge scored nine and pulled down six rebounds in 13 minutes of second half action.
Mars Hill shot nearly 57 percent in the second and hit half (7-of-14) of their three-point shots. Catawba shot 46 percent from the floor and hit six of their 13 three-point attempts.
