Lions downed after late Saints' rally

GAFFNEY, S.C. - The Mars Hill men's basketball team (6-20, 6-17 SAC) was defeated by a score of 72-59 versus Limestone (10-16, 8-15 SAC) Wednesday night on the road.
The Lions entered the final three minutes of play trailing five, but several Mars Hill turnovers plagued their comeback bid, allowing the Saints to close out the contest on an 8-0 run. Six of the Saints' points were off of free throws in the final two minutes of play.
Earlier in the second half, the Lions trailed 52-38 before going on an 11-0 run to cut the deficit to four. Following the Limestone timeout, the home team reeled off five straight to rebuild their lead to eight with just over eight minutes to play.
After the first 20 minutes of play, Mars Hill trailed Limestone 32-27 with both teams shooting 37 percent from the floor. Richard Nunez and Isayah Johnson led their respective teams with 10 points apiece in the first.
Despite being outscored 40-32 in the second half, the Lions were the better shooting team, hitting 45 percent of their shots from the floor. Limestone answered by hitting five threes and hitting 11-of-12 free throw attempts.
