Lions Conclude Day One of SAC Championship

SALISBURY, N.C. – The Mars Hill men's golf team sits in 10th place overall after day one of the 2017 South Atlantic Conference Men's Golf Championships on Sunday afternoon. The Lions shot a team score 308 (+24) during the opening 18. Carson-Newman fired an even-par 258 to finish atop the leaderboard at the conclusion of day one.
Senior Adam Lumley, coming off being named the SAC Men's Golfer of the Year, led Mars Hill on day one, shooting a +4, 75, good enough for 25th individually. Teammate Luke Challis shot a first round 77 (+6) as he sits in a tie for 35th. Harry Butler and Stephen Thomasson each tallied a 78 (+7) and are tied for 42nd, while Callum Ritchie rounded out the Lions' five with an opening round 82 (+11).
The tournament will resume tomorrow morning as Thomasson will get things started with a tee time of 9:30 a.m. followed by Challis (9:39), Ritchie (9:48), Butler (9:57), and Lumley (10:06).
