Lions fall to Indians on road
The Mars Hill men's lacrosse team (2-5, 0-2 SAC) was defeated by Catawba (5-2, 2-0 SAC) by a score of 13-7 Saturday afternoon on the road.

SALISBURY, N.C. - The Mars Hill men's lacrosse team (2-5, 0-2 SAC) was defeated by Catawba (5-2, 2-0 SAC) by a score of 13-7 Saturday afternoon on the road.
The Indians opened the first quarter on a 5-0 run with five different goal scorers. Mars Hill responded by closing out the quarter on a 3-0 run with goals from Cole Ross, Josh McCallion, and AJ Howland. Ross assisted on McCallion's marker for his second point of the quarter.
After Austin Stroud's goal 3:54 into the second quarter, Catawba added three goals in the final 9:10 of the half to lead 8-4 after 30 minutes of play. Joey Baumgardt assisted on Stroud's tally.
The Indians scored the first four goals of the third quarter, capping off a 7-0 run between the second and third. McCallion's second goal of the game with 25 seconds left in the quarter was assisted by Jamir Epps.
Stroud netted his second of the game and picked up an assist on Baumgardt's goal in the fourth to end the day with a team-high three points (2g, 1a).
McCallion (2g), Baumgardt, and Ross (1g, 1a) finished the contest with two points apiece. Howland won 19 of 21 faceoffs while Steven Smith made 18 saves in the game.
Mars Hill returns to action on Saturday, March 16 when they host Coker. Faceoff is set for a 1 p.m start inside the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium.
