Shelton sets two MHU records at Bast-Cregger Invitational

ROANOKE, Va. - The Mars Hill men's indoor track & field team traveled with a light crew over the weekend to Roanoke College to compete in the Bast-Cregger Invitational.
Jesse Shelton, Antonio Lorenzo, and Justus Shelton competed in both Shot Put and Weight Throw.
Jesse Shelton placed first overall in Shot Put, while establishing a new MHU record of 17.40m (57' 1"). Shelton hit a NCAA DII provisional qualifying mark with his throw, which currently ranks him eighth in Division II.
Shelton followed up his performance in shot put with a school record breaking throw in weight throw. Shelton placed second overall with a throw of 14.76m (48' 5.25").
Antonio Lorenzo competed in shot put for the first time in his collegiate career. Lorenzo established a personal best 14.17m (46' 6''). He advanced to the finals, placing fifth overall. Lorenzo placed 14th overall in the weight throw, throwing 11.75m.
Justus Shelton found the finals in men's shot put as well. Shelton placed sixth overall with a personal best throw of 13.65m (44' 9.5"). Shelton competed in weight throw for the first time, placing 12th overall with a throw of 12.08m.
The Lions return to action in the New Year as they head to JDL Fast Track on Saturday, January 13th to compete in the Mondo College Invitational.
