Mars Hill competes at JDL Last Chance
The Mars Hill men's indoor track and field team traveled to Winston-Salem, North Carolina to compete in the JDL Last Chance Meet at JDL Fast Track.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Mars Hill men's indoor track and field team traveled to Winston-Salem, North Carolina to compete in the JDL Last Chance Meet at JDL Fast Track. NCAA teams across all divisions competed in todays meet. The Lions took a small part of the team to compete in what was their last meet before next weekend's South Atlantic Indoor Track & Field Conference Championship, which will take place at JDL Fast Track.
Jesse Shelton, Justus Shelton, and Antonio Lorenzo took to the shot put ring today. The Sheltons both advanced to the finals. Jesse placed 2nd overall with a throw of 16.93m (55' 6.5"). Justus placed overall with a personal best throw of 13.92m (45' 8''). Lorenzo narrowly missed advancing to the finals, placing 10th overall with a throw of 13.27m (43' 6.5").
On the track, four Lions set new personal bests. Connor Cecil placed 25th overall in the 400m run with a personal best 55.27s. Braxton Taft Cummings placed 17th overall in the mile with a personal best 4:33.89. Gabriel Hunt competed in the mile as well, placing 30th overall with a personal best time of 4:46.4. Brandon Wright competed in the 800m run. Wright finished with a new personal best time of 2:03.79, placing 16th overall in the event.
