Lions strike twice in final two minutes, down Coker

HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The Mars Hill women's soccer team (2-8-0, 1-4-0 SAC) scored twice in the final two minutes to defeat Coker (0-7-0, 0-4-0 SAC) Saturday afternoon.
Trailing 1-0 with 1:58 remaining in the contest, the Lions' leading goal scorer Sanne Martinsen tied the game with her fifth goal of the year. Martinsen would strike again 25 seconds later for her sixth of the season and the game-winning marker to earn the Lions their first conference win of the season. Martinsen led all players with nine shots attempted, six of which found their way on target.
Coker struck 8:10 into the match with Meredith Kennedy scoring her second goal of the year. Despite the Lions outshooting the Cobras 10-3 in the first 45 minutes, Alexandra Brown was able to keep Coker ahead heading into halftime, making six of her seven saves in the first frame.
Tonje Jorgensen made one save in the second half and earned her first career win.
Mars Hill returns to action on Wednesday, October 10th when they face Catawba. The match will be held inside the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium with a 5 p.m. start.
