SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Jasha Geerdink and Sophia Pelaez picked up the only two victories on Tuesday afternoon as the Lions fell on the road to Converse, 7-2.
Geerdink was pushed to the limits in her three-set victory. Down 1-0, the senior rallied to take the next two sets including a dramatic 17-15 third set. Pelaez took her singles match in straight sets, 6-0, 6-3.
The Valkyries of Converse won all three doubles contests to propel them to their season opening win.
The Lions fall to 1-2 and will be in action next against on Saturday, September 30 in Mars Hill at the Hart Tennis Complex.
