Baseball Loses at King, 3-2
The Lions’ baseball team lost on the road at King, 3-2 Tuesday afternoon.
BRISTOL, Tenn. – The Lions' baseball team lost on the road at King, 3-2 Tuesday afternoon. Mars Hill fell to 17-21-1 overall while the Tornado improved to 24-13 on the season.
Brett Brubaker went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI to lead the Lions offensively. Cody Cline was 1-for-3 and recorded both runs scored for the Lions. Brad Dzeskewicz suffered the loss (0-1) for the Lions throwing one inning in relief. Mike Ramunno pitched the first seven innings scattering five hits, allowing two runs and striking out six batters.
Austin Meyer led King going 2-for-4 at the plate. Tyler Bailey and Colby Sale followed recording a hit and a RBI apiece. Ashton King picked up the win (2-2) throwing the eighth inning while Grant Boyd had the save (1) closing out the ninth inning.
Bailey gave King a 2-0 lead in their first at-bat hitting a two-run double down the left field line. Brubaker singled through the left side in the third inning to drive in Cline and cut the lead to 2-1.
Brubaker knotted the contest at 2-all in the fifth inning hitting a single to right field to send Cline to the plate once again. Cam Haymans singled to left field to drive in King for what would later prove to be the game winning run. Boyd held the Lions at bay in their last at-bat to secure the 3-2 win.
Mars Hill will host Brevard in a double-header on Wednesday, April 11. First pitch at Henderson Field is set for 1 p.m.
