Montgomery, Viscusi Earn Individual Wins at SAC Championships
The Mars Hill women’s track team won a pair of events on Saturday at the 2014 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Track and Field Championships at the Irwin Belk Track and Moretz Sports-Athletic Complex.
HICKORY, N.C .- The Mars Hill women's track team won a pair of events on Saturday at the 2014 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Track and Field Championships at the Irwin Belk Track and Moretz Sports-Athletic Complex. The Lions finished in fifth place with 85 points.
Alexis Montgomery won the women's 100 meter dash in 12.48 seconds and also had the fastest time in the preliminaries. Montgomery was the runner-up in the women's 200 meter dash and finished in fourth place in the women's 400 meter dash. Montgomery was named the SAC Women's Track Athlete of the Year for her efforts.
Jessica Viscusi, the reigning SAC Women's Track Athlete of the Week, earned the win in the women's 3000 meter steeplechase in 11:24.39. Viscusi finished in third place in the women's 1500 meter run as well as the women's 800 meter run and was the runner-up in the women's pole vault.
Savannah Hulbert finished in fourth place in the women's 100 meter hurdles and fifth place in the women's 400 meter hurdles. Megan Smith finished in fifth place in the women's 3000 meter steeplechase. Faith Trammell finished in eighth place in the women's 5000 meter run. Kelly Jones finished in ninth place in the women's triple jump.
