Lions split first tri-meet of 2023
The Mars Hill acrobatics & tumbling team (2-3, 2-2 CC) split their first tri-meet of the year, falling to Belmont Abbey (7-1, 6-0 CC), but downing Chowan (0-7, 0-7 CC).
BELMONT, N.C. - The Mars Hill acrobatics & tumbling team (2-3, 2-2 CC) split their first tri-meet of the year, falling to Belmont Abbey (7-1, 6-0 CC), but downing Chowan (0-7, 0-7 CC).
The Crusaders scored a total of 259.395 while Chowan scored 69.425. The Lions posted a score of 240.445.
In the compulsory event, the Lions scored highest in the pyramid heat with a score of 9.55 and in the toss heat with a score of 9.50. Mars Hill scored highest on their first heat in the acro event, scoring a 9.10 in the 5-Element.
In the third heat of the pyramid event, Mars Hill outscored both Belmont Abbey and Chowan with a 9.10 in the open heat. Heading into the half, the Lions scored 84.55, trailing Belmont Abbey by 6.60 points.
Belmont Abbey narrowly took the toss event, outscoring Mars Hill 24.85-24.05. They pulled away in the tumbling event, outscoring Mars Hill by over four points.
In the team event, the Lions scored an 84.82 to bring their overall total to 240.445 on the night.
