Lions narrowly defeated by Converse

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The Mars Hill acrobatics & tumbling team (2-4, 2-3 CC) was defeated by Converse (4-3, 4-3 CC) by a score of 251.535-243.220 Saturday afternoon.
Mars Hill claimed the first two events, the compulsory and the acro events. In the compulsory, the Lions won the pyramid heat with a 9.40, their highest scoring heat. They scored 34.50 points out of a potential total of 40 in the four-heat event.
In the acro event, the Lions scored highest in the 7-element with a score of 9.20. They outscored the Valkyries 25.40-21.85. The Valkyries responded in the pyramid event, outscoring Mars Hill 24.55-23.05 with their highest mark coming in the second heat; a 9.70.
Entering the half, Mars Hill led 82.95-79.35.
Converse won all three events in the second half, consisting of the toss, tumbling, and team events. After the six-heat tumbling event, the Valkyries outscored Mars Hill by over four points to take the lead. They closed out the meet with a solid team event score of 93.31 to the Lions' 87.82.

Mars Hill closes out their home schedule on Thursday, April 6 when they take on King. The meet is set for a 6 p.m. start inside Chambers Gymnasium.
