MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill acrobatics & tumbling team split with Converse and Wingate in their first tri-meet of the year Friday night, falling to Converse by a score of 261.020-257.980, but defeating Wingate 257.980-240.6.15.
Mars Hill led both team heading into the half, up 90.50 to Converse's 88.80 and Wingate's 81.25. In the Acro event, the Lions outscored both teams with an event score of 26.85. In the Pyramid heat, the Lions outscored both teams with an event score of 28.25, posting a heat-high 9.80 in the open heat.
Converse rallied in the Toss event, outscoring both teams with an event score of 26.10. In the Tumbling event, the Valkyries jumped ahead of Mars Hill by outscoring them 53.05 to 49.50.
The Valkyries secured the win by scoring a 93.07 in the team event.
Mars Hill returns to the mats on Sunday, February 25 when they travel to King. The meet is set for a 1 p.m. start.
