Rogers Named to D2CCA NCAA Division II Southeast Region Team
Evan Rogers was selected a second team D2CCA NCAA Division II Southeast Region member
MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Evan Rogers was selected a second team D2CCA NCAA Division II Southeast Region member. Rogers is a senior from Kernersville, N.C.
The teams are voted on by the members of D2SIDA, the NCAA Division II Sports Information Directors Association.
Rogers, a senior shortstop from Kernersville, N.C., put together one of the most prolific offensive seasons in Lions history. His 19 homeruns on the season set a new Mars Hill record while also ranking first in the conference. Evan was also able to lead the team and conference in runs (66) and slugging percentage (.855). A .390 batting average was tops among the Blue and Gold as well as a career-high 55 runs batted in. Rogers' most impressive game came in a 10-8 win over Wingate on February 28, belting three dingers and tallying six RBIs.
Besides being selected to the D2SIDA team, Rogers was the 2016 South Atlantic Conference Player of the Year, named to the 2016 NCAA Division II National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Southeast Region first team and was a first team All-SAC selection.
Mars Hill finished the 2016 campaign with a 30-18 overall record, the most wins since the 2006 team collected 32 wins.
All first team D2CCA NCAA Division II All-Southeast Region selections will be included on the ballot for All-America consideration. The Daktronics NCAA Division II All-American teams will be announced Friday, May 27.
The D2CCA All-America teams in football, men's soccer, women's soccer, women's volleyball, men's basketball, women's basketball, baseball and softball are sponsored by the Division II Conference Commissioner's Association.
The All-America teams were formerly known as the Daktronics NCAA Division II All-America teams.
