Mars Hill opens road slate versus Lee

CLEVELAND, Tenn. - The Mars Hill women's lacrosse team (2-2) was defeated by Lee (4-0) by a score of 20-3 Wednesday night.
The Flames opened the contest on a 4-0 run and closed out the first quarter with a 7-1 lead. Maggie Luzler netted four goals in the frame. Sydney Joyce converted a free position for the lone Lions' tally.
Lee outscored the Lions 5-1 in the second with Brittney White scoring three in the quarter while Callie Curtis added two goals. Alexa Tazzetta scored the Mars Hill marker.
Chandler Werner scored the lone Mars Hill goal in the third while Caleigh Kenna netted two for the Flames as they built their lead to 15-3 after 45 minutes of action. Lee closed out the contest, shutting the Lions out in the fourth 5-0.
Luzler led all players with seven points (4g, 3a) while White added five points (4g, 1a). Tazzetta led the Lions with two points (1g, 1a). Kaleigh Bernard was credited with the win while Rebeca Sanchez made 10 saves in the contest.
Mars Hill returns home on Sunday, February 26 when they face Florida Tech. First draw is set for 1 p.m. inside the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium.
