Women's Soccer Loses to Lincoln Memorial
Mars Hill’s women’s soccer squad lost to Lincoln Memorial University, 4-1 Wednesday night in the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium.

MARS HILL, N.C. – Mars Hill's women's soccer squad lost to Lincoln Memorial University, 4-1 Wednesday night in the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium. Mars Hill fell to 0-7 overall and 0-3 in the SAC. The Railsplitters improved to 4-2 on the season and 2-1 in the league.
Michelle Hunter opened the scoring in the match when she found the back of the net at the 16:01 mark on a cross from Fernanda Miaci. Eight minutes later Miaci gave the Railsplitters a 2-0 advantage scoring on an unassisted breakaway. The teams carried that score into the locker room at the intermission.
Kadie Soall put the Railsplitters ahead 3-0 at the 50:39 mark scoring from 15 yards away. Breona Tate put the Lions on the board in the 55th minute scoring on a penalty kick to trim the deficit to 3-1. Marissa Kiernan added an insurance goal in the 75th minute scoring off a deflection after a shot on goal by Maddy Nagy deflected off the post.
LMU outshot the Lions, 25-16. Corner kicks were 6-2 in favor of the visitors. Mars Hill was called offsides once.
Tori Stajduhar played all 90 minutes in goal for MHU and made 10 saves. Kayla Stephens played the first 52:18 in the net for LMU and made five saves. Kathryn Lundy played the final 37:42 in goal for the Railsplitters and made one save.
Mars Hill will play at SAC foe Anderson University on Saturday, September 27. Match time is set for a 1 p.m. start.
