Women's Track Has Strong Performance at Brevard Relays
Mars Hill sets two school records in 2015 outdoor season opener
BREVARD, N.C.- The Mars Hill women's track team set a new school record in the 4 x 1500 meter relay and the English Mile as the Lions won eight races at the Brevard Relays on Saturday.
The quartet of Vanessa Viscusi, Faith Trammell, Megan Smith and Jessica Viscusi broke a 12-year-old school record with a new time of 21:04. Smith set a new school record in the English Mile as she finished in 5:46.18.
Other individual event wins for the Lions include Toccara Jefferies in the 100 meter dash (14.16) and 400 meter hurdles (1:17.05), Savannah Hulbert in the 100 meter hurdles (16.68) and Shelby Robinson in the 5000 meter run (21:04.63) The 4 x 200 meter relay team of Hulbert, Kendra Henry, Alauna Reckley and Alexis Montgomery finished first with a time of 1:48.65. Mars Hill also won the 4 x 100 meter relay in 51.57 with the same foursome.
Mars Hill will scatter athletes in three meets next weekend.
