Five Lion Players Named to Hansen All-Region Team
Mars Hill placed five football players on the 2013 Don Hansen NCAA Division II All-Super Region Two squad. Shaikel Davis, Dimitri Holmes and Troy Harris were selected to the first team. Sammy Siasia and Denzell Goode were second teams picks.

Harris, a senior from Orlando, Fla., started in all 11 games with 99 total tackles, (46 solo). He recorded 8.0 sacks, 20.5 tackles-for-loss, two forced fumbles and three pass break-ups. Troy was a first team All-SAC pick, a second team Daktronics All-Region selection in 2012 as well as being named the SAC Defensive Player of the Year in 2012. He was named a 2013 Preseason All-American by Beyond Sports Network. Troy led the SAC in tackles-for-loss, was seventh in NCAA in tackles-for-loss and eighth in the SAC in total tackles.
Davis, a junior from East Flat Rock, N.C., started in the first 10 games for the Lions before suffering an injury. He rushed for 1,254 yards averaging 125.4 yards per game. He was a first team All-SAC selection in 2013 and a second team Daktronics All-Region pick in 2012. He led the SAC in rushing yards and rushing yards per game. Shaikel ranks 13th in the NCAA in rushing yards per game and 18th in the NCAA in total rushing yards despite missing the last game of the year due to injury.
Holmes, a junior from Athens, Ga., started in all 11 games for MHU. The first team All-SAC member caught 81 passes for 1,591 yards and 15 touchdowns. He averaged 19.6 yards per catch and 144.6 yards per contest. Dimitri led the SAC in receiving yards, receiving yards per game and receiving touchdowns. He was fifth in NCAA in receiving touchdowns. Dimitri was third in NCAA in receiving yards and second in the NCAA in receiving yards per game. He was second in the SAC in receptions per game. Dimitri finished the year setting program records in single-season receiving yards (1,591 – 2nd in SAC history), TD receptions (15), career receiving yards (3,449 – 3rd in SAC history) and career TD receptions (32).
Siasia, a senior from Marietta, Ga., started in all 11 games for the Lions. The All-SAC first team selection, led the conference with 155 tackles. That number placed him second in the NCAA. He also led the league in solo tackles (64) and was third in the SAC in tackles-for-loss. Sammy was named the SAC Defensive Player of the Week twice and the D2Football.com national player of the week once. He totaled double-digit tackles in 10 games in 2013 and recorded a 20-tackle performance twice this season.
Goode, a sophomore from Gaffney, S.C., started in all 11 games for the Lions at left tackle. Goode was a first team All-South Atlantic Conference selection and helped anchor Mars Hill's offensive line. Thanks to Goode's performance, MHU was third in the league in pass sacks allowed, third in passing offense and his blocking helped Davis become the league's top rusher.
