Lions finish eighth at King Invite
The Mars Hill men's swim team opened their season at the King Invite, placing eighth at the end of the two-day meet.
BRISTOL, Tenn. - The Mars Hill men's swim team opened their season at the King Invite, placing eighth at the end of the two-day meet.
Raul Briceno placed fourth overall in the 500 yard freestyle, swimming a time of 4:49.91 in his collegiate debut. In the 1650 yard freestyle, Briceno turned in a time of 16:54.13, good for second overall. He also placed ninth in the 200 yard butterfly, posting a time of 2:04.31.
In the 50 yard freestyle, Thomas Gibson placed fourth with a time of 21.17. He placed third in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 46.86 and placed 12th in the 100 yard butterfly, recording a time of 53.19. Gavriel Hason placed 18th with a time of 54.78.
The team of Briceno, Gibson, Hason, and Matthew Goslin placed ninth in the 400 yard medley relay with a time of 3:41.14. In the 200 yard medley relay, the same quartet placed eighth with a time of 1:40.77.
The Lions earned 147 points, placing eighth overall.

Mars Hill returns to the pool on Friday, October 8 when they host Lenoir-Rhyne and UNC Pembroke. The meet will begin at 6 p.m. inside Harrell Pool.
