Mars Hill falls in home opener versus L-R
The Mars Hill men's swim team fell to Lenoir-Rhyne in their home opener by a score of 129.50-109.50.
MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill men's swim team fell to Lenoir-Rhyne in their home opener by a score of 129.50-109.50.
Raul Briceno claimed victory in the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 10:05.97 and in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 4:51.26.
Thomas Gibson won the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 21.83, the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 47.97, and the 50 yard butterfly with a mark of 23.84.
In the 100 yard butterfly, Briceno finished second, clocking in at 55.28 while Gavriel Hason finished third with a time of 55.67.
In the 50 yard breaststroke, Matthew Goslin and Ronin Pettit placed first and second with times of 28.94 and 29.21, respectively.
Samuel Brooks in the 200 yard freestyle placed second with a time of 1:54.33. Brooks finished third in the 100 yard backstroke while Goslin placed third in the 100 yard breaststroke.
The team of Briceno, Hason, Goslin, and Gibson came from behind to win the 200 yard freestyle relay in 1:31.72.

The Lions return to the pool on Saturday, October 23 when they face Lees-McRae. The meet is set for a 2 p.m. start.
