MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill women's soccer team (1-11, 0-9 SAC) was defeated by No. 4 Catawba (13-0-2, 7-0-1 SAC) by a score of 5-0 Saturday evening.
Catawba struck twice in the first half, with Ella Matthews netting her sixth in the ninth minute and, with under 10 seconds to play in the half, Ali Skinner scoring her first of the night, fourth of the season.
In a span of just under 10 minutes in the second, Catawba added three more goals as Reese Robinson and Bree Ehmer scored with Skinner adding her second of the night.
The Lions were outshot 24-3 with shots coming from Samantha Swinson, Delaney Griffin, and Sophia Appello. Peyton Pierson made nine saves, facing 14 shots on-target.
Prior to the start of the game, seniors Anise Mahathirath and Jenna Matzat were recognized and celebrated for their contributions to the program.
The Lions wrap up their 2025 home slate on Tuesday, October 28 when they hose S.C. Beaufort. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. inside the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium.
