Lions Fall at Carson-Newman

The Eagles won by scores of 25-20, 25-17 and 25-21 to lock up the victory. Rachel Harper's 11 kills, four service aces and 12 digs paced Carson-Newman. Marissa Wixson led Mars Hill with nine kills and added three digs. C-N outhit MHU by a .245 to .136 margin. Mars Hill falls to 2-4 overall and 0-2 in SAC matches. Carson-Newman is now 6-3 overall and 1-1 in conference matches.
Emily Schultz notched 10 kills for the Eagles, while Kristin Pickett filled the stat sheet with seven kills, five digs and 30 assists. Taylor Lowe added nine digs. The Eagles recorded 11 service aces in the match.
Toni Cole recorded eight kills on a .500 attack percentage for MHU. Courtney Worthington added three kills, six digs and 21 assists. Maggie Murphy notched a team-high nine digs.
Mars Hill will host Brevard for the Lions' home-opener this Friday, Sep. 20 at 7:00 p.m. in Stanford Arena.
