Lauren Hochstetler earns Academic All-District honors
Mars Hill University volleyball player Lauren Hochstetler earned 2017 Academic All-District™ III honors, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday morning. The honors marks the first time in her career.
AUSTIN, Texas - Mars Hill University volleyball player Lauren Hochstetler earned 2017 Academic All-District™ III honors, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday morning. The honors marks the first time in her career.
Hochstetler carries a 4.0 GPA while majoring in chemistry with minors in biology and pre-professional studies. The senior from Sarasota, Florida is a chief marshal, member of Alpha Chi honor society, National Society of Leadership and Success and Forge ministries, while also serving as vice president of the Chemistry Club.
Hochstetler, a four-year starter, led the Lions with 255 kills and 29 aces in the 2017 season. She finished her volleyball career with 1,085 kills, 1,447 digs, 124 blocks and 118 aces.
Hochstetler will advance to the Academic All-America® national ballot, along with the other six team members. District III is comprised of NCAA DII schools from the Conference Carolinas, Peach Belt Conference and South Atlantic Conference.
A student-athlete can be nominated for Academic All-America® honors with a cumulative 3.30 or above grade point average while also being a starter or significant reserve for his or her team. The student-athlete must be at least a sophomore to be considered.
