Lions downed in SAC opener versus Catawba
The Mars Hill men's lacrosse team (3-4, 0-1 SAC) fell to Catawba (2-3, 1-0 SAC) by a score of 13-4 in their South Atlantic Conference opener Saturday afternoon on the road.

SALISBURY, N.C. - The Mars Hill men's lacrosse team (3-4, 0-1 SAC) fell to Catawba (2-3, 1-0 SAC) by a score of 13-4 in their South Atlantic Conference opener Saturday afternoon on the road.
The Indians used an eight-goal fourth quarter to come away with the victory. Leading 7-4 with under five minutes to play, Catawba rallied off six straight goals to go into double-digits. The Lions netted two goals in the final frame from the sticks of George Yanssens and Tremain Hill.
After 30 minutes of play, the teams were tied at two. Goals from Keegan Maxwell and Christian Norrie put the the Indians up 2-1 after the first quarter. Zac Carrigan, with 6:06 left in the half, netted his second of the game to send the teams into the half tied at two.
The trio of Shane McCormick, Justin Jablonski, and Yasir Stround recorded all three goals in the third for the Indians to carry the three-goal advantage into the final stanza.
Stroud led all players with four points (3g, 1a) followed by Maxwell's three (2g, 1a). Carrigan led the Lions with two goals on the afternoon.
Kevin Geiger made eight saves in the victory. Ryan Prylinski made 11 saves in the losing effort.
The Lions return home on Wednesday, March 11 with a 4 p.m. tilt versus North Greenville.
