Mars Hill opens season at JDL Early Bird Invitational
The Mars Hill men's track & field kicked off the indoor track season today, competing in the JDL Early Bird Invitational hosted at JDL Fast Track.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Mars Hill men's track & field kicked off the indoor track season today, competing in the JDL Early Bird Invitational hosted at JDL Fast Track.
Ethan Lee ran a 24.01 in the 200m, winning his heat and placing 18th overall. Lee also competed in his first 60m dash, finishing with a time of 7.34 seconds. Fellow sprinter, Yu'neeke Payne, ran the 200m in a time of 24.55s, finishing 1st in his heat and 25th overall.
Thomas Bertelsen participated in his first-ever track meet, competing in the 400m. He won his heat with a time of 56.23s and placed 23rd overall.
Traveon Howell placed 12th in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.45s.
Diell Mehmedi finished 3rd overall in the 5000m run, finishing in a time of 16:52.65.
On the field, Levi Higgins took 3rd in high jump with a mark of 1.95m. Higgins also set a new personal best in long jump with a jump of 5.29m.
Lee Prescott finished 10th in the weight throw, throwing a new personal best 11.57m. Prescott placed 12th in shot put with a throw of 12.11m. Justus Shelton finished 13th in shot put with a throw of 11.89m, and Ashtin Gainey set a new personal best in shot with a throw of 10.75m.
Next up, the Lions travel to South Carolina to compete in the Gamecock Opener January 13th, 2023.
