Lions compete at Trojan Opener

ANDERSON, S.C. - The Mars Hill men's outdoor track & field team placed 11th at the Trojan Opener, a two-day meet that wrapped up Saturday evening.
DAY ONE RECAP:
The team ended day one of the Trojan Opener in fourth place with 12 points scored.
Jared Benain kicked off the outdoor season with a second place finish in triple jump. Benain jumped 14.44m and earned eight points for the Lions.
Justus Shelton placed sixth in javelin with a throw of 43.48m. Shelton earned three points for the team. Lee Prescott threw a new personal best, 39.01m. Prescott finished eighth overall in the event and earned one point. Andrew Hensley threw a new personal best 37.76m in javelin. Hensley placed 13th overall. Brandon Bailes finished 15th in javelin with a throw of 34.17m.
DAY TWO RECAP:
The men placed 11th out of 16 teams with a team score of 22 points.
Jared Benain competed in long jump, placing fifth overall with a personal best jump of 6.85m. Benain earned four points toward the team score. Benain also competed on the men's 4x100m relay, which placed sixth overall.
Traveon Howell competed in the 110m hurdles and long jump. Howell placed eighth in the hurdles with a time of 17.4s. He earned one point toward the team score. Howell placed 20th in long jump with a jump of 5.73m.
Lee Prescott competed in both shot put and discus. Prescott advanced to the finals in shot put with a season best throw of 13.24m. He placed seventh overall, earning two points toward the team total. Prescott placed 12th in discus with a throw of 36.33m.
Jackson McClain competed in the 100m sprint, long jump, and on the men's 4x100m relay. McClain sprinted to a new personal best 10.91s in the100, winning his heat. He placed 10th overall in the event. McClain placed 10th overall in long jump with a personal best 6.43m.
Jayden Lawrence competed in the 100m sprint, placing 46th with a time of 12.15s. Lawrence also ran on the men's 4x100m relay.
Ethan Lee competed in three events on the day: the 100m, 200m, and 4x100m relay. Lee ran a personal best in the 100m, 11.33s, placing 27th overall. He ran a personal best in the 200m on an outdoor track, finishing in a time of 23.34s. He placed 30th overall.
Diell Mehmedi competed in the 1500m and 800m. Mehmedi placed 22nd in the 1500m run with a time of 4:30.84 and 20th in the 800m run with a time of 2:14. Hunter Snyder also competed in the 1500m and 800m. Snyder placed 34th in the 1500m run, finishing in a time of 5:06.5.
Justus Shelton placed 10th in shot put with a throw of 12.29m and 15th in discus with a throw of 34.45m. Benjamin Goodlett kicked off the season with throw of 31.82m in discus, placing 25th overall, respectively. RaQuan Coles placed 26th in discus with a throw of 31.19m.
Ashtin Gainey placed 19th in shot put with a throw of 10.47m.
Wanya Martin placed 24th in long jump with a personal best jump of 5.43m.
Andrew Hensley placed 36th in the 800m run, finishing with a time of 2:26.47.
Next up, the Lions travel to Montreat College to compete in the Montreat Invitational.
