Women's Tennis Defeats Catawba
The Mars Hill women’s tennis team won the top two doubles pairings and top three singles pairings en route to a 5-4 win over Catawba on Friday.
SALISBURY, N.C. – The Mars Hill women's tennis team won the top two doubles pairings and top three singles pairings en route to a 5-4 win over Catawba on Friday. Mars Hill improves to 2-3 on the season and 1-0 in South Atlantic Conference play, while Catawba drops to 6-7 and 0-1.
Tatiana Dualiby and Lucy McLaurin teamed up to win number one doubles 8-2 over Liz Renteria and Sloan Kessler. Anna Rickenbaker and Jade Henke won 9-8 (7-5 tiebreaker) over Lauren Sledd and Ally Prior in number two doubles.
Dualiby earned the win in the top singles flight, topping Renteria 6-4, 6-3. Rickenbaker defeated Kessler 6-2, 6-0 in number two doubles. Jade Henke secured the win for Mars Hill in number three doubles as she defeated Lauren Sledd 6-4, 7-6 (8-6 tiebreaker) in number three singles. Catawba won the final three singles pairings in straight sets.
Mars Hill returns to action on Sunday against Queens. The match between the Lions and Royals will take place at North Buncombe High School.
